There are many different designs and qualities of Camper Trailer Tents on the market today, and often the price dictates the quality, similar to any product. However, there are certain specifications whilst little extra cost at manufacturing level can make the difference between a trouble free & comfortable camping experience, for many years to come, or a short lived camping nightmare.
Throughout the years in this industry as specialists in Camper Trailers and camper Tents, we have listened to what our customers have to say, their ideas, comments and suggestions. We welcomed feedback. As our tents are used on a daily basis by Camping Companies, Tour Companies, and Safari based adventure Companies from Cape York to the Tiwi Islands, by families in the school holidays, and retirees on extended holidays, a culmination of all this feedback led to the final design of our 9′ Tent.
The doors (front, rear, and annex wall door) are also U shaped instead of the usual D shaped doors. There is a canvas U shaped door & a micro mesh U shaped door at each entrance, both with double zips. The benefits are as follows.
The doors are easy to roll from the bottom to the top & vice versa rather than from right to left, where it can take two people to roll across due to the size of the door.
3 of the doors are U shaped & have a sewn in valance above them to deflect the rain, and stop the doors getting wet.
The doors are much larger allowing easier access (no tripping over the door edges) & allows much more airflow.
The doors all have a canvas strip which covers & protects the zip, stopping rain getting into the tent. With the original D shaped doors as seen on 99% of tents, the zip is exposed to the elements, & if it rains heavily it can leak into the tent particularly through the rear door & annex door.

Tent Features
- MATERIAL – 13oz ripstop canvas with M3 midgee mesh on all windows, vents & doors. Heavy duty PVC floor sewn into main tent.
- ANNEX – Full annex consisting of annex roof, walls, floor including tailgate section. Over-sized midgee mesh windows with solid canvas window covers.
- WINDOWS – Zipped internal & external window covers in main tent. External zippered window covers in annex.
- SIZE – Tent 2300 x 2700mm . Annex 2300 x 4450mm. Combined 4600 x 4450mm.
- MATTRESS – 100mm high density foam 1700 x 2100mm.
- POLES – Galvanised 25mm with reinforced corners & come in canvas bags. Additional spreader bars, poles, guy ropes & pegs to turn external window covers into awnings are also included.
- ROPES & PEGS – Galvanised pegs with ropes & springs, come in a canvas bag.
- LADDER – Strong & lightweight aluminium ladder.
- TRAVEL COVER – Heavy duty PVC travel cover which zips & velcros closed with additional tie downs on sides & front.
- VENTS – Two large PVC vents under bed in cooler climates keep the tent warmer & in the hotter climates unzip these to reveal midgee mesh screens allowing for airflow to circulate in the main tent without letting the bugs in. These midgee screens can also be unzipped to allow access to the trailer.
- END WALL – Can be used in several ways, zipped closed to keep the wind & rain out or roped & pegged out as an additional annex, there is also full midgee screen which can be zipped closed or simply roll up the canvas and midgee screen to have a large opening.
- ANNEX – The annex roof quickly & easily zips & velcros on or off making this very versatile for either short or extended stays.
- DOORS – Large U shaped doors including a rear door with both canvas & midgee screens allowing for airflow without letting the bugs in. All 3 doors (including annex door) are in a row maximizing airflow.
- SUITED TO – 7′ x 4′ & 7′ x 5′ trailers with a trailer height of 1200mm (from ground to the top of the trailer) – will also fit onto 6′ x 4′ & 8′ x 5′ trailers with slight modifications. For lower on road trailers we also have an on road tent suited to a trailer height of 1050mm.
- BOWS – The 3 internal bows all pivot from the uniquely designed bracket located on the bed base, with the end bow having a quick release button allowing for quick and easy removal from the bracket this pole can then be inserted into the foot pocket in the floor, freeing up the doorway.
- CANVAS – Our canvas also has an additional wax coating on the underside of the canvas. This gives the canvas the strength of 17oz canvas without the weight, & makes it extremely waterproof. About 10 years ago we decided to add this coating as many of our tents are used every day of the year hire companies & as permanent accommodation, often in the north of Australia during the wet season. This additional coating in combination with one of our storm covers makes our tents possibly the most tear resistant & waterproof tent on the market today.To withstand Australia’s harsh conditions, it is vital that the material be extremely water resistant, can be fully enclosed to repel dust, and most importantly be manufactured with additional reinforcing on all stress joints including double stitching throughout. Our 13oz Rip Stop Canvas Camper Tent is also far superior to conventional canvas tents. At a size of 14ft x 15 ft total covered area, theres plenty of room for the whole family.
- BED HATCH – Large gas strut assisted bed hatch under mattress allowing easy hands free access into trailer tub.
- WINDOWS – Window coverings have eyelets & there are additional poles, ropes & pegs provided allowing window coverings to be turned into additional awnings.
- TRAVEL COVER – Heavy duty PVC travel cover. Simply unvlecro & zip off the top half of the cover to set up the tent, then zip back up again after folding away the tent. The bottom half of the cover is fitted into aluminium sail track which is screwed to the bed base board, giving you a dust & water seal protecting the tent from the elements. The cover is also manufactured oversize to allow for the safe and sealed storage of clothes, sleeping bags etc underneath it. All too often with conventional travel covers the tents are ruined by water and dust getting up underneath the cover, and the tent is left to rot in storage till the next camping adventure. We believe this is one of the most crucial points to ensure longevity of a camper tent, & crucial if travelling on unsealed roads. The cover also includes 6 tie down straps, with sewn in strengthened buckles.
- POLES – Not only are our poles heavy duty, galvanised & 25mm they are also reinforced corners for additional strength.
- BED FRAME – Marine ply base, large hatch with gas strut (strut needs to be attached) custom 25 x 50mm metal frame all included.
Rip Stop Canvas
The canvas incorporates interwoven rip stop reinforcement threads in a crosshatch pattern, so the material resists ripping or tearing. Other rip stop products such as a nylon rip stop are used in the manufacture of hot air balloons, yacht sails & spinnakers, parachutes, even Nomex protective clothing for riot police. Authentic rip stop canvas was traditionally always too expensive to incorporate into camper trailer tents and was primarily used in military tents throughout the world. Advances in technology and increased manufacture abilities, has now led to a more competitively priced product.
